Solid Timber Flooring
Step back in time and seal in a piece of history.
When you step on a solid timber floor, you can feel its natural beauty, character and warmth.
Solid timber, is often referred to as ‘hardwood' flooring. 'Hardwood' means the wood from a broad-leaved tree (such as oak, ash, eucalypt) rather than the wood from a conifer with needles (such as pine, fir, or spruce).
Solid timber flooring is created by cutting into vertical sections from the trunk of a tree, after which it is then air and kiln dried until it reaches the required moisture content for the local environment.
Crafted from a single piece of hardwood, each board has its own unique grain and character. Over time, the wood will also develop a patina that adds even more depth and richness to its appearance, a quality that has been favoured throughout the decades.
The stability of solid timber is reliant on the different sections of the tree. For this reason, solid timber flooring does not carry a structural warranty. We guarantee to install it according to the appropriate method, however are unable to predict how the natural timber will behave over time.
If you are looking for a structural guarantee, we highly recommend considering engineered timber flooring, which still uses a component of a solid board for the floor surface, whilst utilising technology to provide you with a longer term flooring solution in your local environment.
